The School is a registered educational charity, regulated by the Charity Commission under the Charities Acts of 1993 and 2006.
All matters relating to tutoring are led by the senior tutor. He decides the direction and content of course material and studies, deals with the appointment of tutors and other related issues.
On the organisational side, the legally constituted body is known as the Fellowship of the School of Economic Science. This is made up of some 230 students who become Fellowship members through a process of nomination and, if appropriate, formal acceptance.
At its annual general meeting the Fellowship elects a Principal, a Treasurer and seven other members to form an Executive Committee for the purpose of conducting the business of the Fellowship and ensuring the provision of all necessary facilities to enable the work of the School to proceed as smoothly as possible.
The Principal is also Chairman of the Fellowship and of the Executive Committee.
The Fellowship and the Executive Committee are bound by written Rules, which can only be changed with the consent of the Charity Commission. |
