Occasional short courses

These are five week courses on a weekday evening open to the public, covering topics in economics. Recent courses have been “Feed the World”, “Land Issues” and “Money and Banking”.

Saturday talks

These are talks on economic issues by visiting speakers, open to the public. The last one was “Credit Crunch and Monetary Reform” given by Anne Belsey.

Colloquia

These are annual one day events with a group of invited speakers. The last one, held in June 2010, was “Economics for the Common Good”.

Economics Study Group

This consists of tutors of the Economics with Justice course and senior members of the faculty. They work on developing the Economics course and other research projects.

Economics Group Study Forum

This is a  web based discussion group.

Publications

The “Economic Monitor” is published 3 to 4 times a year and consists of articles and reviews by members of the faculty.

Books

Brian Hodgkinson, a long standing member of the faculty, recently published “A New Model of the Economy”, a major new work on economics.  See the Contents, Preface and Summary pages.

Work with other organizations

The School has recently worked closely with the Henry George Foundation and now houses its library at Mandeville Place, which also provides a location for their weekly meetings. It is a member of the Coalition for Economic Justice which is working on a long-term solution for repetitive economic crises.
