A Free, Confident VoiceWant to be a more confident speaker? To present your ideas with greater clarity and persuasiveness? If so, this popular and highly interactive course is for you. It’s practical and great fun. We show how words and movement can more effectively enliven and enrich everyday conversation. We seek to penetrate depth and meaning by speaking and acting out the words of great poets and writers, particularly Shakespeare. Exercises include: Self awareness and communication skills – work on mind and body. Contact with space; posture and deportment to find natural balance and poise in public speaking. Voice – development of a flexible range of vocal tone. Awareness and feeling for significant rhythms of speech which includes the pointing of key words and subordination of lesser words. Clarity and precision without affectation or aggression. Storytelling – and the use of humour. Bringing Mind and Body into play – exercises to develop an overall co-ordination of physical and mental response. Breathing techniques to enable bodily ease, natural facial expression and gesture which gives the listener a feeling of sincerity, confidence and friendship.
