Towards an Understanding of the Primacy of Consciousness
A joint conference between the School of Economic science and the Scientific and Medical Network exploring the consequences of challenging the conventional view that consciousness is merely a secondary attribute of the most highly evolved creatures, adopting instead the premise that consciousness is fundamental and is the primary element in life. Three speakers explore if this position provides a reasonable basis for a more comprehensive understanding of the full range of phenomena we experience, with interdisciplinary contributions from physics, biology and philosophy.

Conference Introductions from the School of Economic Science and The Scientific and Medical Network
Ian Mason (Head of Economics and School Principal) looks at the current economic downturn. He argues that the return to lasting prosperity and happiness is not possible simply by rebuilding the crumbling edifices of contemporary economics. Instead, it rests, crucially, on rethinking the entire architecture of economics and building a new economic order that conforms much more closely to Nature and her laws.
